Privacy notice

This notice explains how ForgeVector Software Limited ("we", "us", "our") collects and uses personal data through our website and when you contact us or work with us, in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are the data controller for that information. We are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), reference ZC171163, and our company number is 17271764.

Information we collect

  • Things you tell us. When you contact us by email or through Discord, or when you become a client, we collect details such as your name, contact handle or email, your project, and information about what you want to build.
  • Project and account information. If we work together, we keep the information needed to deliver and support your project, and to handle invoicing and our own accounting records.
  • Technical and usage data. When you visit the site, our hosting and security provider may process limited technical data such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you view, to keep the site secure and working. We also use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that report aggregate trends, such as pages viewed and general location, and do not identify you personally.

How we use it

  • To respond to your enquiry and discuss potential work.
  • To provide, support and maintain the services and products you ask us to deliver.
  • To handle invoicing, payments and our legal and accounting obligations.
  • To keep the website secure, available and working well.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.

Legal bases

We rely on the following lawful bases under the UK GDPR: steps before a contract and performance of a contract for handling your enquiry and delivering your project; legal obligation for keeping accounting and tax records; and legitimate interests in responding to you, supporting our clients and keeping a secure, useful website. Where we ever rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.

Service providers

We use a small number of trusted providers who process data on our behalf, only as needed to run our business:

  • Hosting and security: Cloudflare, which hosts and protects this website and provides the cookieless, aggregate analytics described above.
  • Email: our email provider, used to receive and reply to your messages.
  • Discord: if you contact us there, your use of Discord is also governed by Discord's own privacy policy. We only use what you share with us to respond and help with your project.

International transfers

Some of our providers operate globally, so your data may be processed outside the UK. Where it is, we rely on appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses, so your data stays protected.

Cookies and local storage

This website does not use tracking or advertising cookies. We store a single small setting in your browser's local storage to remember your cookie choice, which you can clear at any time through your browser settings. To understand traffic in aggregate we use privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics that do not identify you.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry correspondence only as long as needed to deal with your request, then delete it. Where we work together, we keep project and account records for the length of our work and for as long as we are required to for legal, tax and accounting purposes (generally up to six years), after which we delete or anonymise them.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including serving the site over HTTPS and limiting access to your data to those who need it.

Children

This website and our services are aimed at businesses and project owners and are not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we process it, to data portability, and, where we rely on consent, to withdraw it. To exercise any of these, email admin@forgevector.co.uk and we will respond within the time the law allows. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the ICO at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this notice

We may update this notice from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed, and the current version always lives on this page.
